What is Million Laughs? |
|
Yes, I organize comedy shows under the name Million Laughs! Actually I am only responsible for the GOOD things that happen - anything else is (of course) somebody else's fault! |
We of Million Laughs are a loosely-knit group of semi-professional comedians who perform Stand-Up Comedy. There is a core of "regular" comics, and others who join in here and there. Click here for a list of people involved with Million Laughs.
Most of us met at various comedy classes and workshops around town. All of us are actively performing (besides Million Laughs shows) at clubs and theaters around town.
What does Million Laughs do? |
We of Million Laughs provide CLEAN family-friendly Stand-Up Comedy. We entertain all ages from very young to very old! If you like to laugh -- well, our name says it all!
Million Laughs shows are of the format found in most Comedy Clubs, namely an MC (usually Will Morton) who brings up a series of performers individually.
What are people saying about Million Laughs? |
Response to the recent Million Laughs show at the annual La Habra Library Summer Lock-in:
-------- Original
Message -------- Hi, everyone —
Your show was awesome, especially Sherry. Love the high school comedy. Everyone did a terrific job--enjoyed the extras (magic, boa constrictor) and the great comedy. Nick, a lot of the kids really enjoyed your humor. I didn’t catch the entire show as I was in and out, so I missed most of Chris’ segment. Wish I’d been there! Thank you so much for your support. This was a real treat for the kids.
I don’t know if you talked to the kids about how you started the troupe, how Sherry got involved, and how others could learn how to do stand-up comedy. I think it’s important for our kids to know that you volunteer your time to do this, both here and at other venues. One of the great things about our country, that is generally not found in other countries, is our volunteer ethic. It’s important to share this with our youth and encourage them to grow, develop new skills, and give back to their community, too. Thank you for demonstrating these qualities to our kids.
And thank you for the laughs! Best to all of you, |

Dear Million Laughs,
You sure did make this something these kids will remember! When I asked them what some of their favorite parts of the night were, you guys were up there. Thank you for not only making us laugh and enjoy life, but also for showing by example that people should keep reaching for their dreams.
Thank you again! Carrie & the La Habra Teens

Where can Million Laughs be laughed at? |
We of Million Laughs basically do two types of shows:
Community Service Shows |
Family Shows |
Will
Morton
feels that there is a need for community service shows -- hospitals,
nursing homes, etc. (Which
is to say, he is a bleeding heart do-gooder!)
Million Laughs did a bi-monthly show (since April 2003) at the City of Hope National Medical Center and Beckman Research Institute (in the Hope Village Comedy Theater). [Please note: Due to renovation of the Hope Village Theater, the City of Hope shows are suspended indefinitely after March 11, 2005.] In the past Million Laughs has performed at La Veta Convalescent Center in Orange, as well as other hospitals and Senior Centers. |
Will
Morton also feels that there is a need for family-friendly shows -- especially shows
which appeal to children and teen-agers, as well as parents. These
shows are "for pay", and include private parties, theaters, etc.
Million Laughs recently did a show at the La Habra Depot Theater. Million Laughs provided entertainment after the play -- for those who wanted "just a little more!" Million Laughs has performed for elementary age children, Jr. High and High Schoolers, as well as adults and seniors. |
